Most people even remotely connected to the world of Hollywood want to be part of the glitz and glamour that is the Golden Globe Awards – but happens what you aren’t on the invite list?

You attend a “Viewing Party,” and this year we discovered one at The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in Hollywood, hosted by “American Pie” star Tara Reid and others that have managed to make the tabloids over the past year – Michael Lohan, “Real Housewife” Alexis Bellino, Tila Tequila, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee and Phoebe Price.

But before passing judgment, there were good intentions embedded in there – the event was part of an effort to bring awareness to the growing crisis child trafficking within the United States. While it was slightly odd that a benefit for such a serious subject was held in a comedy club, host Reid said it was simply a matter of doing whatever she could to bring attention to the atrocity that is happening even within our own borders.

“It is time for people to be aware of it. The epidemic is growing and the stories are horrific. It is worse than drug trafficking,” she told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “These are little kids that are absolutely innocent. We need everyone to be aware of this now and put an end to this. Anyone who gets picked on, this is worse. This is taking a child away from their family and scaring them to death.”

Reid is also tired of being dubbed a wild child, and is working hard to resurrect her image as a serious working actress.

“I’m not just a party girl, there is a lot more to me. I have a big heart and I’m a lot smarter than people think,” she continued. “I want to be remembered as a good person, a good (future) mother and wife as well as a good sister, and a good friend. That’s what I’d like to be remembered as.”

And although the 35-year-old is often referred to as “washed-up” or a “former actress,” she insisted that her professional life is back on track in a big way with two new films set for release in the coming months and two new films she’s getting ready to film, including “American Pie 4.”

Reid also had some words of wisdom for transitioning child stars, such as Miley Cyrus.

“Stay out of the clubs because it only gets you into trouble,” Reid advised. “Keep your fun at home.”
