These are the voyages of William Shatner. His continuing mission to explore the strange world that is “Star Trek” fandom… or at least that’s part of his mission.  For one night only the man who will forever be known as Captain Kirk is releasing his one-man show, titled “Shatner’s World,” in select theaters around the country.  Through anecdotes, songs, jokes and even some poignant moments, audience members will experience William Shatner's phenomenal path from classically trained Shakespearean actor to cultural icon.

Shatner sat down with FOX411 to talk about the new project and give some insight into the revealing nature of the show.

“I talk about a great many things… I talk about love, I talk about comedy. I talk about hate. I talk about motorcycles. I talk about horses. I talk about history. I talk about the shows that I’ve been in. I talk about singing. It goes on and yet I’ve been able to characterize it so that it evokes laughter or tears or both, or knowledge, or some appreciation of the variety of subjects. It’s a multimedia show and it should reach you on many levels.”

He also reminisced about his days aboard the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. Though he couldn’t name a favorite episode, Shatner was clear about what made a great “Star Trek” episode.

“The best shows of ‘Star Trek’ had a message of some kind, had good character development, had tension of a plot evolvement, sort of a great Greek classic play. Those were my favorite shows.”

As any good trekkie knows, conventions are the place to be in order to get up close and personal with their favorite Starfleet officers. Shatner, no stranger to the convention landscape, spoke about what makes those fan appearances so worthwhile.

“What I really enjoy doing is standing in front of an audience and talking to them. Fielding questions and amplifying the question and droning on about something or other that informs them, makes them laugh and makes them think. So the genesis of this one-man show came from those personal appearances at conventions.”
