Serena parties, misses TV interviews
Serena Williams reportedly partied hard after her US Open win
Serena Williams missed all of her morning TV appearances after winning the US Open championship because she reportedly partied until the early hours of Monday morning with Caroline Wozniacki.
Williams, 32, was due on NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” followed by “Live With Kelly and Michael” with her trophy on Monday after winning her 18th Grand Slam title.
But the superstar canceled her appearances because she was reportedly too tired after she celebrated with her friend and final opponent Wozniacki — who’s become close to Williams following Wozniacki’s split with golfer Rory McIlroy — at Tao and VIP Room, where they posted pictures of themselves with Joe Jonas and model Gigi Hadid. Fellow clubgoers at VIP Room told The New York Post Williams’ group of nearly 30 ordered Champagne and vodka and danced until around 3 a.m.
“GMA” had teased Williams’ appearance on Monday morning at 7 a.m., then, less than an hour later, had to tell viewers she wasn’t going to appear. “Today” also confirmed the champ was booked, and they had announced her appearance at the top of the show, before she canceled.
