Oscar-nominee Salma Hayek begins filming her new movie, “La chispa de la vida,” (As Luck Would Have It) in Spain next month, alongside comedian José Mota.

The entertainment magazine “Variety” reports that Hayek will play the wife of an unsuccessful publicist whose luck takes a turn for the better when he accidentally trips on a metal bar in a Roman Amphitheater, injuring his head and becoming paralyzed.

With TV cameras, hungry reporters, an attention-seeking mayor and self-interested agent after him, the publicist does all he can to profit from the situation—until his destiny goes sour and an exclusive interview leads to his unexpected death.

Producer Randy Feldman originally wrote the Spanish-language satire in English although it is uncertain if the film will have an English version.

Alex de la Iglesia will be directing the feature, which will be filmed in Madrid and Cartagena, Spain.
