Reese Witherspoon reached out to fellow actress and friend Cameron Diaz just hours after being arrested for disorderly conduct.
US Weekly says that after Witherspoon attended the Cinema Society screening of her latest film, “Mud,” the actress met up with Diaz and comedian Chelsea Handler at the Greenwich Hotel. Others who joined the ladies included Michael Keaton, Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann.
Witherspoon was arrested on Sunday night after she allegedly confronted Atlanta police officers who were arresting her husband, Jim Toth, for Driving Under the Influence.
"Nobody was drunk – it was pretty tame," a source told the magazine. "They all seemed really happy. There was no indication that there was anything wrong."
The source also added that Witherspoon and Toth "were cuddling" and looked "cute."
Witherspoon, through a statement, apologized on Monday for her behavior in Georgia. Witherspoon is said to have pulled out the “celebrity” card on the officer who arrested her – she kept asking him if he knew who she is.
"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said," she told Us Weekly in a statement.
According to a police report, Witherspoon refused police orders to remain in the vehicle.
"Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don't need to know your name.' I then added, 'right now,'” the officer wrote in the police report. “Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You're about to find out who I am.' I stated, 'I am not worried about you ma'am.'"
