Model mayhem: Playboy models rally behind fired school teacher

Fellow Playboy models are infuriated by news that Cristy Nicole Deweese was allegedly fired from her teaching position after her nude modeling past was exposed.

The 21-year-old’s Playboy peers say her firing makes no sense, and claim her racy photo work has nothing to do with her job in the classroom as a Dallas, Texas high school Spanish teacher.

Playboy model Jessica Leigh told FOX411 she doesn’t think Deweese needs to answer to anyone when it comes to her past.

“I think it was very unfair that she was fired. She didn’t do anything wrong. She didn’t break any laws. She was a beautiful young girl. She’s educated and that’s what really should matter to these parents,” she said. “What she’s done in her past shouldn’t really affect it as long as she has her education and is teaching her students to the best of her ability.”

Plus, Leigh thinks that modeling for Playboy isn’t all that big a deal anyway.

“Playboy is different from other nude magazines, if you will. It’s kind of the Disney of porn, as I like to say. It’s very tame," she explained. "Women want to be beautiful and show themselves like, ‘Hey, I’m young.  I’m beautiful, you know, here it is.’ We’re born naked so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.”

Fellow Playboy model and friend of Deweese’s Liz Ashley said a decision Deweese made in college shouldn’t be impacting her now.

"I could understand if someone was upset if she was doing it currently now, but since she did do this years before while she was in college -- probably to put herself through college -- I don’t think there is anything wrong with that," Ashley said. "Not everybody has some big nest egg with money sitting aside for college. Some people have to do whatever they have to do to go to school.”

But Producer and Casting Director for Playboy Debbee May said that Deweese’s story is a common tale. May explained that many past models find themselves in employment trouble for their association with the skin mag.

“I have a prison guard who got fired and got her job back, a kindergarten teacher who managed to stay under the radar and still teach," May said. "The police officer who got fired, but that is what she wanted anyway. I could go on forever.”

But Leigh said, for her, Playboy hasn’t had any career consequences.

“I personally haven’t dealt with anything directly affecting my job. I have seen it affect other girls work.  It really depends on what line of work you want to be in. If you want to be in something with TV or with modeling [or] print, anything like that it could potentially help you," she said. "You know with other jobs it unfortunately could hinder you as well and that’s something to think about before it. I wouldn’t take it back for the world. I would do it again if Playboy came and called again.”

According to Ashley, Deweese is planning a return to modeling, and may be taking her clothes off in front of the camera once again: “The day she got fired she actually said, ‘It looks like I’m going to be modeling again obviously I’m unemployed.’”

However Leigh advised that Deweese shouldn’t give up on teaching yet.

“I think the best thing for Cristy right now would be to go ahead and fight what’s going on, to stand up for herself. She has an education. She has a degree. Who is any parent or school employee to take away food from her table?”

But May said if Deweese is interesting in modeling again, she should strike while the iron is hot.

“Get it going while there is a buzz,” May said. “She certainly can use it to garner other jobs but beware of the idiots that will promise you the world and somehow you don't even get a piece.”

nt about her situation.  I think that there are districts that would hire her.  I’m not sure which districts or which parts of the country.  She’s going to have to look for a more liberal area or she may have to work at a private school that again has a more liberal point of view.  But she needs to emphasis her teaching skills and I don’t think she can go back and do lingerie modeling, that’s just going to make it harder for her.

Meanwhile, May recommended that Deweese use the media attention to her benefit while she can.

“Get it going while there is a buzz. While there are so many important issues in our world right now I hope she has the talent to back it up. She certainly can use it to garner other jobs but beware of the idiots that will promise you the world and somehow you don't even get a piece.”

Deweese was unavailable for comment. Multiple calls to the Dallas Independent School system were not answered.
