Kourtney Kardashian continues to turn heads.

The older of the Kardashian sisters sported a super hot metallic monokini on her latest beach bonding day with friends in Miami .

While not a traditional one-piece, her look was far from a full on bikini.

And this wasn’t Kourtney’s first foray into the one-piece bathing suit trend. She was snapped recently in an asymmetrical black suit with riveted detailing and an animal print lace up swimsuit.

Kardashian isn’t the only celebrity opting for one-piece suits while having fun in the sun. Olivia Culpo stunned in a two-tone, crisscross number that shows just a little of her taut abs.

While triangle bikinis are the typical suit for the beach-ready, today’s one-piece offers fashion forward details and options the celebs love.

Kate Hudson covered her middle in a recent Shape Magazine shoot, opting for a super low plunging neckline to show off her assets.

Swimwear designer Cynthia Rowley, who counts Hudson among her customers, tells FOX411 that Hudson is “all about health and wellness” and that today’s suits allow for a more active lifestyle.

In fact, some of the fittest celebrities are going beyond simple and covering up with printed or patterned wetsuits. Rowley says, “Functionality has become such an important in every part of a woman's wardrobe. Swimming and water sports have become another fitness activity. Our wetsuits are more popular than ever, including fans like Julia Roberts.”

One-pieces aren’t just for the rich and famous. They can be a good addition to your wardrobe if you are more interested in fashion than sports, have fun with cut outs, asymmetrical shoulders and lots of straps.

Plus, Rowley adds, sometimes they have a place outside of the pool.

Rowley says, “One-piece suits look great off duty paired with a sheer skirts or denim cutoffs.”
