British actor Khan Bonfils, who went by Kan, died Wednesday in London while preparing for an upcoming production of “Dante’s Inferno.” He was 42.

Paramedics and members of the Craft Theatre Company in East London were unable to revive Bonfils after he collapsed in rehearsal, according to the Daily Mail. A cause of death has not yet been announced.

“Kan collapsed during a rehearsal and the director, Rocky Rodriguez Jr., he performed CPR on location,” company spokesperson Chris Hislop said. “An ambulance was called out but unfortunately he couldn’t be resuscitated.”

Hislop added: “The entire company are in shock. There is absolutely severe sadness. It is a real tragedy. I think they are holding it together by talking it through and by being there for each other.”

Bonfils may be best known for his roles in the James Bond and “Star Wars” franchises. He first appeared in the Bond world as henchman Isagura in 1997’s “Tomorrow Never Dies” and again appeared in 2012’s “Skyfall.” In 1999, he played Jedi master Saesee Tiin in “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace.”

Bonfils also had roles in “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life” and “Batman Begins.”
