It seems singer Katy Perry was quite the troublemaker in middle school. In a recent Instagram story in which she went through old photos and items in her parent’s house, the “American Idol” judge shared the story of when she was suspended from school for pretending a tree was Tom Cruise and “making sexual motions.”

The star posted to her Instagram Story in which she speaks with her parents and goes through old items in the house. Among the photos and props, Perry discovered a note home to her parents from her Santa Barbara Christian School dated 1996. It details her suspension from school after getting caught pretending a tree was heartthrob Tom Cruise and, as she puts it, “humping it.”

“At the 2:00 p.m. recess, Katy and four other students were in an ‘off-limits’ area (behind the backboards) practicing a skit. Katy pretended that a tree was Tom Cruise and began making sexual motions (‘pelvic thrusts’) to the tree,” it reads.

The message, which Perry recorded her mother reading in full, continued: “She was asked to describe or demonstrate what she had been seen doing on the playground in front of some other students. Katy chose to describe it. Her words were ‘it was inappropriate’ and “‘ike making out.’”

The note goes on to detail other incidents that set the bedrock for her suspension, including foul language, inappropriate school wardrobe and playing a favorite among middle schoolers of all generations, “Truth or Dare” and “Spin the Bottle.”

“She was told then that any more inappropriate behavior would result in a suspension.

Katy was seen by 2 teachers recently outside their classrooms doing the Macarena dance in which she made body motions with sexual overtones (described by one teacher as being “‘ike an exotic dancer’),” the text reads.

Perry, now 34, seemed to laugh at the whole experience in hindsight, even being proud of her actions in a tongue-in-cheek way.
