Justin Bieber teamed up with Colombian reggeaton star J Balvin for the Latino remix of his hit single “Sorry.” While the song dropped in early November, the duo had never performed it live until Sunday night.
At Balvin’s set at the Mega 96.3 FM “Calibash” concert at the Staples Center, Bieber crashed the part for their first joint appearance.
Before taking the stage, the duo teased the surprise with a video on Instagram.
“We got a little surprise. I think it’ll be pretty awesome,” Bieber said, while Balvin translated in Spanish.
“Do you think they’ll like it?” asked Balvin, who touted the performance as an “historic moment” and proof that people should “dream big.”
“Had to support my bro @JBALVIN tonight at the Staples. We got more coming,” Bieber tweeted after the show.
The “Sorry” Latino remix came after they met at the Special Olympics World Games opening ceremony in Los Angeles last summer.
Speaking to Fox News Latino in December, Balvin said his collaboration with Bieber was very organic and not something that was asked of them by record executives.
“Music is a universal language. Even if you don’t know what the lyrics are saying, you can feel the music,” he said. “Working with Justin was a dream come true because we fought so hard and worked so hard that when it happened, it was so natural.”
