A Connecticut judge agreed to drop drunken-driving charges against supermodel Stephanie Seymour if she completes an alcohol program and attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings twice a week.
The 47-year-old former cover girl, who cops say backed her Range Rover into another car in Greenwich in January, appeared in a Stamford court on Monday and apologized for her actions.
“Firstly, your honor, I’d like to apologize to the courts and the Greenwich police,” she told Superior Court Judge Auden Grogins.
“I am incredibly ashamed that I did something that could’ve come out much worse…I would also like to apologize to my family and the lady that I backed into.”
Seymour was also charged for smashing into a utility pole and leaving the scene in another accident on the same day.
The judge said Seymour seemed “remorseful.”
“But you’re right, this could have turned out a lot worse,” Grogins said. “Someone could’ve been seriously hurt or killed, including yourself.”
“It wasn’t just one accident but two accidents here, so it is serious,” he continued. “I’m glad that you are taking this seriously. You should take it seriously.”
The former Victoria’s Secret model has already voluntarily completed an out-patient treatment at Dessert Star Addiction Recovery Center in Arizona.
In order to have the charges dropped, Seymour will still have to attend a six-week treatment program at Greenwich Hospital, along with AA meetings twice a week and two victim impact panels.
She’s also responsible for any out of pocket restitution that her insurance won’t cover and must complete an alcohol education plan.
“So long as you complete those conditions, you’re going to come back here on April 4, 2017, and if you’re successful, the charges will be dismissed,” Grogins said.
