For years, Jessie J's bodyguard, Dave, stood by her side — watching over her at concerts, movies and late-night strolls. On Sunday, the British singer announced the devastating death of the security guard she considered "family."

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Jessie J described the special moments the pair shared together over the past four years, including impromptu workouts outside of her tour bus, texting during breaks on "The Voice" and holding her hand when she was nervous on an international flight.

"The way we laughed. I keep going back to that. We had so much fun Dave," the 30-year-old star wrote.

"Your love for your dogs. Your love for tattoos. Your love for traveling. Your gentleness. Your voice. The way you stuck by me when everyone else left. It was me and you in Aus," Jessie J continued, explaining that she chose to post the tribute publicly so everyone could remember the incredible man Dave was.

It's currently unclear how Dave, who's also a father, died, though it appears to have been sudden — as Jessie J noted the two arranged to meet for hot chocolate next week.

"I miss you. I will see you on the other side one day. Rest easy Dave / give your Dad a hug from me," Jessie J added.

The singer's emotional post was accompanied by a mixture of 10 images and videos of Dave. Some candid shots showed Dave protecting Jessie J as she greeted fans, while others were selfies taken at various venues.

"You weren’t just my security, we ARE family ... Me and you," Jessie J said.

Hours later, Jessie J uploaded another video of Dave entering a small plane. In the video, she laughed as the muscular bodyguard attempted to squeeze through the doorway of a small plane.
