To save, look for clues in the last two digits of price tags…

AT OFFICE DEPOT:
Prices ending in a 1 (.01, .31) = first clearance markdown
Ending in a 2 (.02, .42) = second markdown
Ending in a 3 (.03, .63) = third markdown
And ending in a 4 (.04, .74) = FINAL markdown
Anything else? You’re paying full price

AT TARGET:
Prices ending in .99 = full price
Prices ending in .98, .88, .04 and .24 indicate clearance items

AT COSTCO:
Prices ending in .99 = full price
Prices ending in .97 = markdown

AT HOME DEPOT:
Prices ending in .06 = clearance item, 6 weeks until the next markdown
Prices ending in .03 = 3 weeks until item goes away; this is the best deal
