Gloria Estefan, Jerry Garcia, Linda Perry among nominees for Songwriter Hall of Fame

Cuban-American singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan, along with Jerry Garcia and Linda Perry are among the outstanding talents being considered for the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The organization announced its 2015 nominees Wednesday. Among the performing songwriters up for the honor are also Tom Petty, Vince Gill, Cyndi Lauper, Elvis Costello, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Cat Stevens, Toby Keith, Steve Miller, Steve Winwood, Ann and Nancy Wilson and Harry Wayne “K.C.” Casey.

Perry is being considered as a nonperforming songwriter. Other nonperforming songwriters up for the honor are Allee Willis, Rob Temperton, Motown songwriter William “Mickey” Stevenson, Bobby Braddock, Bob McDill, Rudy Clark and Randy Edelman.

Garcia and his songwriting partner Robert Hunter along with Mike Chapman and Kicky Chinn, Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell, and P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri are among the songwriting duos that will also compete.

The winners will be inducted next June at a New York gala.
