Gisele Bundchen remains highest-paid model for 14th-straight year

Gisele Bundchen continues her domination as the highest paid model in the world – for the 14th year in a row.

According to Forbes’ Top Paid Models list for 2016, the Brazilian beauty managed to hold on to her No.1 spot with unparalleled success and $30.5 million in her pocket.

It was all thanks to her on-going contracts with brands like Carolina Herrera, Pantene, Chanel and Arezzo shoes, especially since she retired from the catwalk last year.

Following behind Bundchen – though not very closely – is fellow Brazilian Adriana Lima, who was able to hold on to the No. 2 spot thanks to her contracts with Victoria’s Secret and Maybelline. She held off a challenge from newcomer Kendall Jenner, who catapulted from the 16th position to No. 3.

The 20-year-old Jenner’s annual salary more than doubled this year, jumping for $4 million to $10 million thanks to partnerships with Estee Lauder and Calvin Klein.

Tied with Jenner at No. 3 is Karlie Kloss, who also doubled her earnings since 2015 after scoring contracts with Express, L’Oreal and Swaroski.

Gigi Hadid and Rosie Huntinton-Whitley both earned about $9 million in 2015 to secure the No. 5 position. Hadid transformed her more than 22 million Instagram followers into contracts with Maybelline and Tommy Hilfiger, Forbes reported.

All together, the top 20 models on the list earned a combined $154 million, with more than 200 million Instagram followers.

“Our business has changed,” Chris Gay, President of The Society Management, which represents Jenner, told Forbes. “These models [have] become more and more influential because they are the conduits of media – not only somebody who can be the face of the campaign but a powerful means to distribute it.”
