Gina Rodriguez brought viewers to tears when she accepted the best actress in a TV series at the Golden Globe Awards for her performance in CW’s “Jane the Virgin.”

"Wow. Thank you God for making me an artist," a visibly emotional Rodriguez said when she took the stage.

She thanked her bosses at The CW and cast before moving on to her family.

“Thank you to my mom and my dad who told me to dream big and never stop dreaming,” the 30-year-old said on Sunday. “This award is so much more than myself - it represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes.”

The award came just hours after The CW announced it had renewed “Jane the Virgin” for a second season.

Rodriguez, in her first Golden Globe nomination, beat out “Girls” actress and creator Lena Dunham, “Nurse Jackie’s” Edie Falco, Julia Louis-Dreyfus for “Weep” and “Orange is the New Black’s” Taylor Schilling.

Rodriguez is the second Latina actress to win the award in this category, after America Ferrara of "Ugly Betty" in 2007.

In “Jane the Virgin,” Rodriguez plays the title role of a young woman accidently inseminated. The show has received critical praise but a limited audience.

“My dad used to tell me to vote up and say ‘I can and I will,’” a teary Rodriguez said. “Well dad, today is a great day. I can and I did!”

Speaking to reporters in the press room, the Puerto Rican actress said that when she was a little girl, she dreamed of “this moment” and that networks are “seeing that when you step outside it’s a very diverse world.”

Some of Hollywood’s biggest Latino stars were quick to tweet their congratulations to the first-time winner.

Demi Lovato tweeted: “Ummm just cried. Congratulations to @HereIsGina for your Golden Globe... Way to represent ALL Latinos!!!”

Eva Longoria: “Yes!! So proud of @HereIsGina for winning Golden Globe for Best Actress! #LatinaPride #Represent #BestSpeech”

Wilmer Valderrama: “Tears of pride & happiness! CONGRATS my dear @HereIsGina for your Golden Globe!!! You are yet one more example of our blossoming community!”

Director Robert Rodriguez tweeted: “BIG Congratulations to @HereIsGina on her #GoldenGlobes win for Jane the Virgin. Much deserved and inspirational!”
