HBO’s juggernaut series is set to become the first TV series shown on IMAX’s screens this month. Two episodes from Season 4 of "Game Of Thrones" will be followed by a trailer for Season 5. The episodes will be remastered in the giant-screen format and play a one-week run from January 23-29. HBO did not reveal which episodes will be screened, but it said screening and ticket information will be available soon at Imax.com.

HBO’s signature drama has been on a serious roll lately. "Game Of Thrones" last month was named the most-searched TV show on Google in 2014 and the most talked-about series on Facebook. It’s up for Best Drama Series at both the Golden Globes and WGA Awards. It also led the 2014 Emmy nominations field with 19 but won only four.

"The cinematic brilliance and grand scope of the series is perfect for the IMAX format," said Pamela Levine, HBO’s Chief Marketing Officer. "We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show, and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event."

Said IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond: “IMAX always seeks innovative ways to provide moviegoers a unique and differentiated experience and todays partnership with HBO and "Game of Thrones" achieves just that. This deal also furthers our efforts to offer exhibitors the opportunity to participate in alternative forms of content in a new and exciting way."
