Duchovny: New 'X-Files' perfect for paranoid society

Fox has officially announced its 2016-2017 season lineup, which contains a lot of titles audiences will recognize. The network is bringing several classic movies to the small screen in reboots, including “The Exorcist,” “Lethal Weapon” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
“Lethal Weapon” and “The Exorcist” are both coming back as TV series, while “Rocky Horror” will be remade as a previously announced two-hour TV special.
“24: Legacy” will debut on February 5, and “Prison Break,” which was canceled in 2009, will return to the air in 2017.
Fox is also debuting “Star,” no doubt in an attempt to reel in the massive audience that tunes in for “Empire.” The music-centric series follows three up-and-coming singers and is headlined by Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt.
In total, the network announced three new comedies, six new dramas and two new reality shows, plus two TV specials.
"Empire," “Rosewood,” “The New Girl,” “Scream Queens” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” are all returning.
As for "The X Files," which returned to TV screens this year, Fox execs said on a conference call Monday they were unable to announce whether or not there would be more episodes of the series.
"I believe all parties involved want to do more episodes of ‘The X Files,’" said Chairman & CEO of Fox Television Group Dana Walden. "Hopefully that will come together this year."
