LOS ANGELES – Film producer and writer, Eric D. Wilkinson, has "no regrets about buying a full page advertisement in “The Hollywood Reporter” to profess his love for the “Die Hard” movie franchise. In the ad, Wilkinson proposes his own “Die Hard” script for Bruce Willis and the filmmakers and also explains where he believes the films went wrong.
Wilkinson told FOX411 he bought the ad in hopes of seeing see a good film made and as a voice of reason for the fans.
“First of all I’m not anticipating getting a call from Bruce Willis and second of all I just first and foremost I want them to make a good ‘Die Hard’ movie because I love ‘Die Hard,’” he said. “I felt like I wanted to speak for the fans and ask them to make a good movie. And I don’t want to take away anything from the previous films because I don’t dislike the fourth, and I certainly love the first three. Let’s get the character back to where I think the fans and I believe… the character should be.”
The filmmaker revealed he has gotten a tremendous amount of support from others in his industry.
“The people that I make movies with, they thought it was ballsy and a great idea,” he shared.
“It’s a scary thing to put yourself out there but if you want to succeed or get anywhere sometimes you just have to put it all on the line and give it your all.”
Wilkinson, who has had some success in the film industry with films like "The Man from Earth," says he is not a “rich man.” The producer is most-recently credited with his work on "Sparks" and "Mischief Night" in 2013.
He said the ad purchase was well spent.
“Why does it matter what I paid for the ad?” he told FOX411. “If Bruce Willis was buying this ad it would be nothing but for me it was expensive. For a regular working guy it wasn’t cheap, but for me it was money well spent.”
And after taking the ad out in the trade magazine, this “Die Hard” buff is living life with no regrets.
“I have no regrets whatsoever. At the end of the day, I hope they make the best ‘Die Hard’ movie because I love those movies, and I just want them to make a really good one.”
