Ex-gangster claims he knows who really killed Tupac in Netflix series, producer calls for charges

A former gang member claims to know who really killed legendary hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur and has spelled it out in a Netflix documentary series.

Duane Keith Davis, a former member of the Los Angeles-based gang The Crips, said in an interview for “Unsolved, the Tupac and Biggie Murders” that it was his nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson who killed Tupac in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996.

Tupac was shot four times and died six days later.

Davis, aka “Keefe D,” spoke about the murder under immunity from the prosecution, according to The Daily Mail.

Davis said that earlier on the day of the shooting, his nephew, also a Crips member, had tried to steal a Death Row Records medallion from a member of Tupac’s entourage who was reportedly affiliated with the rival gang Bloods. Tupac and his team allegedly beat up Anderson after the incident.

Davis went on to say that later that night he, Anderson and two other people waited around for Tupac to leave a boxing match. They followed him and rolled up alongside the SUV the rapper was in.

“I gave [the gun] to [Andre “Dre” Smith] and Dre was like ‘No, no, no’ and Lane was like — popped the dudes,” Davis said.

“[Baby Lane] leaned over and rolled down the window and popped them,” Davis told the filmmaker.

The Netflix documentary has been released in the United Kingdom only.

In a separate documentary about the murder, Davis revealed he was battling an illness and wanted to confess to what happened on that night before it was too late.

“I was a Compton kingpin, drug dealer, I'm the only one alive who can really tell you story about the Tupac killing,” he said, without revealing the killer at the time.

Kyle Long, the executive producer of “Unsolved, the Tupac and Biggie Murders,” called on Las Vegas police to pursue charges against Anderson, according to the UK Daily Star.

“He went live on television and confessed to being an accessory to murder and the Las Vegas PD, as far as I know, is doing nothing about it,” Long told the British tabloid.
