From the Ready. Raise. Rise. website:
Eric Stonestreet of television's hit comedy, "Modern Family," is passionate about raising awareness about cancer research because of a very personal connection. He is supporting Ready. Raise. Rise. for the second consecutive year, as Eric lost both of his grandfathers and his uncle to cancer, while his grandmother battled cancer three times in her lifetime and his mom is a two-time cancer survivor.
While Eric loves to spread laughter through his acting, he is also dedicated to spreading awareness of cancer research, including Immuno-Oncology. And because he knows how important family and friends are for the patients fighting cancer, he hopes you will join him in raising and sharing a flag for anyone impacted by cancer, and continue to learn more about Immuno-Oncology research.
What is Immuno-Oncology Research?
A national survey* found that while 85 percent of Americans agree that cancer research is important to them, only 20 percent are familiar with Immuno-Oncology, a rapidly evolving area of cancer research. This survey revealed an overall lack of understanding about how the immune system works to find and fight cancer. See more survey findings here.
Immuno-Oncology seeks to harness the body’s own immune system to identify and attack cancer cells. The ultimate goal of this research is to offer renewed hope and to improve survival and quality of life for patients with various types of cancer. Bristol-Myers Squibb is making I-O research a priority, and exploring its potential in several types of cancer, including lung cancer, multiple myeloma, kidney cancer, head and neck cancer, brain cancer, melanoma and liver cancer.
