Live-action remake of Disney's 1991 animated film 'Beauty and the Beast' brings the beloved characters to life
The New York Post reported back in January that Emma Watson was passed over for a role in “La La Land” for being too demanding.
But the British actress has a rosier version of events.
The paper broke the news that Watson was offered the lead female role but was replaced by Emma Stone — who won an Oscar for her performance — because Watson “began making all these crazy demands, like rehearsals for the film must be done in London . . . They jumped through hoops to make it work with her, but she just didn’t feel the film was right for her.”
But, on Thursday, Watson said on Entertainment Weekly’s SiriusXM show, “It was one of those situations where I had been committed to ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at that point.” She added, “I knew this wasn’t a movie I could sort of step into. I knew I had horse training, I had dance training, I knew I had three months of singing ahead of me, and I knew I had to be in London for that . . . I had to be where I had to be. Scheduling-conflict-wise, it didn’t work out.”
