Burt Reynolds would be 'incredibly touched' to reunite with Sally Field, report says

Could the Bandit steal back his honey's heart?

Burt Reynolds is reportedly hoping to reconnect with the love of his life, Sally Field.

The “Smokey and the Bandit” co-stars dated for five years after they met on the set of the 1977 film. The former couple appeared in four films together before calling it quits in the ‘80s.

Reynolds, 82, would go on to marry actress Loni Anderson in 1988. That marriage ended in 1994.

THEY DATED?! SURPRISING CELEBRITY HOOKUPS

Field moved on and married Alan Greisman in 1984. They divorced in 1993.

“Burt and Sally ended on a bad note when they split in 1982, but he’d love a visit from her,” a friend of Reynolds told Closer Weekly Wednesday. “He would be incredibly touched if she came and they could talk over old times – the good times.”

According to the magazine, a potential reunion with Reynolds’ former flame, now 71, could possibly happen.

The close pal insisted the Emmy-winning star is considering a move to Los Angeles from Tequesta, FL. where he’s been residing for the past 30 years. The West Coast move would make it easier for the busy actor, who is currently filming his new movie, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

A rep for Reynolds had no comment for Fox News. A rep for Field also did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

So why did Reynolds and Field part ways? Celebrity biographer Marc Eliot claims he knows the answer.

“Burt broke up with Sally because she was pressuring him to get married,” he alleged.

Reynolds himself admitted over the years that ending his relationship with Field was probably one of the biggest mistakes of his life.

“I miss her terribly,” he told Vanity Fair back in 2015. “Even now, it’s hard on me. I don’t know why I was so stupid. Men are like that, you know. You find the perfect person, and then you do everything you can to screw it up.”

In response to the confession, Field told People Magazine she wanted to keep her statement private.

“I have no response, really, and any response I would have would belong to him,” she said at the time.

Back in March, Reynolds revealed to “Today” show host Hoda Kotb that Field was the love of his life. Reynolds also explained he wanted Field to star with him in “Smokey and the Bandit” but was told the actress was not “sexy”

“I said, ‘You don’t get it, talent is sexy,’” said Reynolds.
