Lil Wayne
Awards season is getting under way! The nominees for the American Music Awards 2011, which air live Sunday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, were announced on Tuesday, with soulful British songstress Adele leading the pack with four nominations.
But some of the other nominees are a little ... puzzling. We can see voting for Lil Wayne in the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album category, but Artist of the Year? Are Justin Bieber and Pitbull really the best we can do in the Favorite Male Artist In Pop/Rock category? Who's still listening to Maroon 5? Is anyone really watching "The Throne"? And as much as we like Taylor Swift's poppy love songs, is she really America's Favorite Country Female Artist?

Meanwhile, Chris Brown could defeat Rihanna in the Favorite Album in Soul/Rhythm/Blues category, which just seems wrong. And is Jennifer Lopez really the best that Latin music has to offer?
