Casey Abrams gave an "American Idol" shout-out to Esperanza Spalding Wednesday night after performing “Nature Boy” by Nat King Cole during Movie Week.
“I want people like Esperanza to look at this and say, 'Oh, no, there is some guy that can just rock out,' Abrams said.
"I want her to know that I can play and I want to educate,” he added.
Spalding won the Grammy for Best New Artist in February, beating out singer Justin Bieber.
Abrams received a standing ovation by the fans and judges. Jennifer López, whom People Magazine named the World's Most Beautiful Woman, rose to her feet, too.
"I honestly feel that I hope that America got that," she said. "You bring that type of special thing to music!"
