He got everything right, except his age.
Sam Holtz, a 12-year-old from Lake Zurich, Ill., captured the ESPN Bracket Challenge title, tying for first place out of 11.57 million entries in the NCAA Tournament pool.
Unfortunately for the bracket savant, ESPN ruled Holtz was too young to potentially collect the $20,000 prize. Rules state Bracket Challenge participants must be 18 years old. The savvy sixth-grader had circumvented the age barrier by entering with his father’s email address.
