Wear a toupee? You might want to leave it at home.

Sealy, Texas-based Hennessey Performance has introduced an open-top version of its 1200 hp Venom GT for the low, low price of just $1.1 million. Yes, $1.1 million. And yes, 1200 hp.

Built on a chassis developed in conjunction with Lotus, the Venom GT Spyder is powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the 6.2-liter V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette. Weighing in at just over 2,600 pounds, it can accelerate to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, and 200 mph in a scant 15.9 sec.

A top speed run has not yet been attempted, but Hennessey estimates that the Venom is capable of hitting 275 mph. That’s seven mph faster than the world-record holding $3 million Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which also has 1200 hp.

Since it went on sale last year, Hennessey has sold six of the $950,000 Venom GTs and currently has orders for two of the five Spyders it will build for the 2013 model year.

And if you really want to keep the hairpiece in place, don’t worry, the Spyder comes with a removable roof panel, which we calculate is worth $150,000, but is probably even more valuable if you leave it off.
