LOS ANGELES – Two teenagers have been charged in the double murder of a young woman and a girl whose bodies were found last fall in a Los Angeles park.
Charging documents show that 18-year-old Jose Antonio Echeverria and 17-year-old Dallas Stone Pineda have been arrested and charged with murder. Pineda is charged as an adult.
The bodies of 19-year-old Gabriela Calzada and 17-year-old Briana Gallegos were found on Oct. 28 near a path in Ernest E. Debs Regional Park in Montecito Heights.
The charging documents say that both Echeverria and Pineda are gang members and that the killings are gang-related.
Echeverria also is charged in a Jan. 29 attempted murder.
It's not clear if the pair have attorneys.
Police Chief Charlie Beck is set to discuss the arrests Thursday afternoon.
