Korean War veteran who went missing in 1950 is buried after DNA testing identifies his remains

BOSTON – Sixty-five years after he was declared missing in action a Korean War veteran has been laid to rest in Massachusetts.

The Boston Globe reports (http://bit.ly/1P0Hn7T ) the coffin of Sgt. Robert Dakin was pulled by horses through downtown Waltham, where hundreds waved American flags or held "welcome home" signs.

Dakin was 22 when he disappeared during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in 1950. He was later declared to have been killed in action, but his remains were only identified recently through DNA testing.

Dakin's remains were among many that North Korea returned to the United States in the 1990s.

An honor guard presented Dakin's family with a Purple Heart.
