Oxnard, CA – The Dallas Cowboys signed veteran offensive tackle Demetress Bell on Sunday.
The Eagles signed Bell to a five-year contract last offseason in the aftermath of Jason Peters' Achilles injury that cost him the 2012 season.
Philadelphia was hoping that Bell would fill the void at left tackle, but he struggled to adapt to Philadelphia's system.
King Dunlap beat out Bell for the starting spot. Bell ended up playing in nine games (five starts) in 2012. He was released by Philly in February.
Bell spent the first four years of his career with the Buffalo Bills. The 6- foot-5, 311-pounder has started 35 of the 40 career games he's played in.
The Cowboys immediately placed Bell on the active/non-football injury list.
Dallas also signed quarterback Alex Tanney and wide receiver Lavasier Tuinei, who was placed on the active/non-football injury list. Guard/center Ryan Cook, long snapper Louis-Philippe Ladouceur and guards Ronald Leary and Nate Livings landed on the same list.
In addition, the Cowboys placed guard Mackenzy Bernadeau and defensive tackle Jay Ratliff on the active/physically unable to perform list.
