Koenigsegg is ready to go one on one with the world’s fastest cars with the introduction of its latest model, the Agera One:1.

The name refers to the carbon fiber car’s power to weight ratio, which is an astonishing 1340 horsepower to 1340 kilograms -- around 2,950 pounds.

That’s light for a car with this much power, and the Swedish supercar specialist predicts it will let it claim world records for acceleration all the way up to 400 km/h, or 248 mph.

But it won’t stop there.

Powered by its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8, the One:1 features active aerodynamic and suspension systems that help it generate massive amounts of downforce and grip for the turns, but smooth things out on the straights, where Koenigsegg says it should be good for a world record speed of 273 mph.

According to Guinness, the current fastest car in the world is the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport at 268, but America’s Hennessey Performance just topped 270 mph with one of its Venom GTs on the Kennedy Space Center’s Space Shuttle landing strip.

Unfortunately, even though Koenigsegg is located on a former military airbase and owns its own runway, the strip isn’t long enough to accommodate a record run, so feel free to give them a call if you have one handy.

Just don’t plan on buying a One:1 when you do. Only six are being produced, and despite an undisclosed price rumored to be approximately $2 million, all of them were sold out before it was publically revealed.

Oh well, there’s always the classifieds.
