Tina Fey and Amy Poehler didn't mean for Taylor Swift to get so upset by their joke at the Golden Globes. After all, they were just kidding, they say.

Both funny women have reacted to news that Swift, apparently, didn't find their joke about her love life to be very funny.

In the April issue of Vanity Fair, Swift opened up about the Golden Globes moment, and she had some harsh words for the two hosts.

“You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people,” Swift told the magazine. “Because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’”

The women both said they were surprised that Swift took the joke to heart.

"If anyone was going to get mad at us, I thought it would be James Cameron," Fey, 42, told ET. "I did not see that one coming. It was a joke. It was a lighthearted joke."

Poheler--always maintaining her sense of humor-- told The Hollywood Reporter she didn't totally disagree with Swift.

"Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff. "

Though Swift didn’t see the humor in Fey and Poehler’s jokes, the audience definitely did, as they roared with laughter after the Swift skit. And the pop singer told Vanity Fair she’s well aware many find her relationship ups and downs to be entertaining.

But she said that she is not the serial dater that everyone sees her as.

“If you want some big revelation, since 2010 I have dated exactly two people,” she said. “[T]he fact that there are slide shows of a dozen guys that I either hugged on a red carpet or met for lunch or wrote a song with. . . it’s just kind of ridiculous."
