When singer Demi Lovato isn’t looking for the new chart-topper on televised singing competition “The X Factor,” she records music of her own–and this time she’s dedicating a song to a special group.

The 20-year-old released a rendition of the 1993 holiday track, “Angels Among Us,” honoring the children lost in this month’s school shooting in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn, GossipCop.com

“We can never imagine what the families in Newtown, Conn. are experiencing right now,” said the video in its opening message. “And while there is nothing we can do to replace their loss, we can stand together and support them during this difficult time. This song is in honor of those angels we lost on December 14.”

Viewers were also asked to support We Are Newtown, a community site that shares fundraising efforts in support of the school tragedy. Their site says they’ve established the “We Are Newtown” memorial scholarship to assist graduating seniors from Newtown.

Earlier this month, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot his mother before heading to the school and killing 20 children and six adults. He then killed himself. Officials have yet to offer a possible motive for the rampage.

On Christmas Day, residents and out-of-town visitors paid tribute to the victims with gift offerings and donations.
