Attorneys for a jilted ex-lover of Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai say a court ordered him to stop his wedding to another woman on Saturday because he might face bigamy charges.

Lawyer Everson Samkange said Friday a magistrate ruled that Tsvangirai was in a customary marriage with the woman for whom he paid a bride price under Zimbabwe's tribal laws. The magistrate ruled that Tsvangirai's planned marriage Saturday to a different woman would make him a bigamist.

Tsvangirai's attorneys said they will immediately appeal to the High Court to allow Saturday's ceremony.

Earlier this week, a High Court judge ruled that the marriage between Tsvangirai and the rejected woman was not "valid" under Zimbabwe's legal system.

Top regional politicians have been invited to Saturday's lavish nuptials.
