Video of a key staircase most people use to get to and from Rio de Janeiro's famed Maracana stadium shows the structure built atop scaffolding wobbling under the weight of fans who attended the World Cup game between Argentina and Bosnia on Sunday.

The footage shot by a Brazilian journalist shows fans packing the staircase with wooden steps as it swayed back and forth and grabbing hand rails to support themselves as they headed via their only exit to a subway station after the game.

Some fans said Tuesday that they were scared the staircase might fall when they used it Sunday.

A spokeswoman for Rio de Janeiro's state government asked The Associated Press to submit questions about the staircase in an email and said she would respond soon.
