Wall under construction collapses in India, killing 10 and injuring 7, police say

NEW DELHI – Police say 10 people were killed when a building wall collapsed while under construction in northern India.

Police officer Sandeep Sharma says another seven workers were injured at the site near Narnaul, a town in Haryana state.

The town is 135 kilometers (85 miles) southwest of the Indian capital.

Building collapses are common in India, where high demand for housing and lax regulations have encouraged some builders to cut corners, use substandard materials or add unauthorized extra floors.
