US man found fatally strangled in Dominican Republic

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – Authorities in the Dominican Republic say a 55-year-old American man has been found strangled in the country's capital.

Police said Saturday that Van Teasley was found dead in his apartment. He had been bound and gagged.

Police said they were alerted by a friend of the victim who was concerned that Teasley was not answering his door or responding to phone calls.

Police said the door to the victim's apartment was open when they arrived to investigate.
