SKHIRAT, Morocco – The United Nations representative to Libya has presented the latest draft agreement for a unity government to delegations from the rival governments of the chaotic North African country.
Bernardino Leon told the attendees in a resort town south of Morocco's capital on Monday that he expected this fourth draft of the agreement to be adopted and said the eyes of Libyans were upon them.
Since the beginning of the year, the United Nations has facilitated a series of different negotiating tracks seeking to bring together the rival governments and warring militias tearing Libya apart.
The state, which lacks most central authority, has become a haven for Islamic State radicals and a jumping off point for immigrants seeking Europe.
Delegates will review the new proposal before reconvening in Morocco.
