An airport official says an ultra-light aircraft with two people on board has gone missing during a sightseeing flight over the mountains of central Nepal.

Pokhara airport official Kashi Nath Poudel said the aircraft, piloted by a Russian national, took off Thursday morning with a South African tourist.

He said the aircraft is able to stay aloft for about two hours, but there had been no contact for four hours. Search flights have not located the plane.

The plane took off from Pokhara, about 200 kilometers (125 miles) west of the capital, Kathmandu.
