LONDON – British police investigating a slavery case involving the remnants of a secretive Maoist group are reviewing the 1997 death of a group member for possible clues.
Police Cmdr. Steve Rodhouse said Wednesday that police have requested court documents related to the official inquest into the death of Sian Davies, who died months after falling from a window of the house used by the group at the time.
The extremist Maoist group has been the focal point of the slavery case since Thursday when police revealed that three women allegedly kept captive by the group for 30 years had been freed.
Two suspects have been arrested for questioning, but haven't been charged.
Police have said the victims weren't sexually abused, but were beaten and brainwashed.
