The former lawyer for the Tunisian woman who posted pictures of herself topless to advocate for women's rights says she has escaped from her family and is now with friends.

Amina Tyler scandalized the country when she posted Facebook photos with the words "my body belongs to me" scrawled across her naked chest. She was later spirited away by her family after religious hardliners issued death threats.

Bouchra Belhaj Hamida, her former lawyer, confirmed Tuesday that Amina has left her family and is staying with friends.

Tyler also appeared on Facebook on Monday in a filmed Skype conversation describing her ordeal with FEMEN, the Ukrainian women's group specializing in nude protests with which she identifies.
