Sweden closes investigation into 2010 suicide bombing, says attacker acted alone

STOCKHOLM – Swedish prosecutors have closed the investigation into a suicide bombing four years ago, saying Taimour Abdulwahab had no accomplices when he blew himself up in downtown Stockholm.

The Iraqi-born Swede, who was living in Britain, was apparently trying to fix a problem with the explosives strapped to his body when some of them went off, killing him and injuring two people.

Investigators have been searching for potential accomplices since the Dec. 11, 2010, attack. But Deputy Chief Prosecutor Agnetha Hilding Qvarnstrom said Wednesday that an "evaluation of the available data suggests that Taimour Abdulwahab acted alone, with no accomplice in the actual attack."

An Algerian man was convicted in Scotland of funding terrorism for sending money to Abdulwahab, but was cleared of conspiracy to murder.
