This was no ordinary heist. The culprits were a pair of 8-year-olds and they hid their stash at the playground.

Police in Austria's Tyrol province say an employee of a tire store surprised the two boys during an attempted break-in, a few days after a window was broken and a cell phone, keys and other objects were taken from the same business in the town of Woergl.

A police statement issued Wednesday said the two fled but were found later at a nearby playground. It said they confessed to both the break-in and the failed attempt before returning the stolen objects hidden among the swings, slide and other apparatus.

Police say the second incident occurred Tuesday. They did not identify the boys, who are below Austria's age of criminal responsibility.
