UTOYA, Norway -- Two students who met as they swam for their lives from Anders Behring Breivik's massacre on a Norwegian island fell in love, The Sun reports.
Sofie Tommeras Lyshagen, 19, and 20-year-old Hakon Knudsen fled side by side as Breivik gunned down his victims.
Both survived the Norwegian bloodbath last July by swimming away and hiding from the fiend.
Love blossomed in the months that followed as they comforted each other over the horrors that they witnessed.
Tommeras Lyshagen, whose ex-boyfriend and best friend were among the 69 people slaughtered at a youth camp on the island of Utoya, said, "After Breivik shot at me, I lay out in the water and saw Hakon swimming. We exchanged a few words and were both quite hysterical. But we have been together ever since."
She added, "It was only later, when we were safe in the countryside, that the romance began. We felt the chemistry was good and that we understood and could help each other. This hasn't broken us. We hope to spread a little joy through this -- our love."
Breivik goes on trial April 16, accused of mass murder. He is expected to be held for the rest of his life in a mental institution.
The monster -- who killed eight more people when he bombed a government building in Oslo before the island massacre -- already admitted carrying out the attacks.
He claimed they were "necessary" to alert the Norwegian people to a creeping Islamic takeover.
