Spanish police say they have arrested a Briton after he allegedly attacked and killed a German man who was reportedly videoing his young daughter in a restaurant.

Police said the German had been arrested days earlier for possessing child pornography.

In a statement Monday, Spain's Civil Guard said the Briton noticed that the German seemed to be videoing his daughter with a tablet. He grabbed the computer from the German and after seeing the images, attacked the man. Police said the German man died of his injuries later in hospital.

Police did not give any further details on the identity of the two men.

The attack occurred Sunday in the southern resort of Sotogrande.
