Serbian police: Afghan refugee killed in fight among migrants; 2 injured

Serbian police say that an Afghan national has been killed in a fight involving migrants near the border with Hungary.

A statement said that the fight early Monday was between two groups of migrants. It says two people were injured.

Serbia lies on the so-called Balkan route for migrants from the Middle East and Africa. Thousands of people have been coming into the country from Macedonia and going north in hopes of reaching the rich countries of the European Union.

Serbia's northern EU neighbor, Hungary, has started building a fence in an attempt to stop the influx.
