Russia's Emergencies Ministry says it will send a plane to Ghana to bring back the country's chief justice after he was hurt in a car crash.

Court spokesman Pavel Odintsov is quoted by Russia's Interfax news agency as saying he spoke with Justice Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Lebedev on Tuesday by telephone and said "he feels OK." Lebedev is in intensive care at a military hospital.

It's not yet clear when Lebedev would head back to Russia. He was traveling outside Ghana's capital when authorities say a truck veered into his lane Monday and struck his vehicle.

Lebedev had gone to Ho, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Accra, to open a meeting of the Ghana Bar Association and was returning to the capital at the time of the crash.
