Puma Energy International is investing some $17 million to build its new Latin America regional headquarters in Puerto Rico.

Officials said Tuesday that the office will become the distribution center for the Caribbean and Latin America.

The Swiss-based company distributes fuel worldwide and previously established a temporary regional office in the U.S. territory in 2011. The new office is expected to be completed by April 2015 and is expected to create more than 230 indirect jobs.

Puma previously bought the old Caribbean Petroleum Company fuel storage facility in Puerto Rico along with 147 service stations through a court-ordered bankruptcy sale.
