A TV station in Puerto Rico that broadcasts a popular news and gossip show featuring a puppet has announced the program will now be prerecorded.

WAPA TV President Joe Ramos told reporters late Thursday that the SuperXclusivo show will be taped two hours before it is broadcast. The announcement follows a recent outcry over comments made by the puppet, known as La Comay, about a man who was brutally killed.

More than 73,800 people have joined a Facebook page demanding the show be canceled after La Comay commented on a man police say was carjacked, set on fire and beaten to death.

Police said the Nov. 30 carjacking occurred on a street known for its drugs and prostitutes. La Comay had questioned whether Gomez was "asking for this" by being there.
