Police are searching for a man who stabbed an Orthodox Jew seven times in front of a Kosher pizzeria in Milan.

Police spokeswoman Magica Palmisano said the victim, identified by Milan's Jewish community as 40-year-old Nathan Graff, was attacked from behind Thursday evening and received three wounds to the back, three to the face and one to the arm.

Community officials said the facial cut was the most serious, but that his condition was not life-threatening.

In a statement, they said they hoped the attack was an "isolated episode."
